Challenge
What was I thinking?
I now have one statue waiting for a base, which I have, but I need to find a way to put her on as balanced as possible.
I have another that needs to get its foot painted, but I don't have a valid way of doing so. The last one I did with a brush still has the strokes. It looks ok, but I'd rather make the base prettier. Besides, I'll need to find the right color for the base anyway, and I haven't done that yet.
Here's the idiotic challenge I took on. The other two are now in phase one of construction, which is to say, the parts become one. The first statue, as I mentioned before, is very (after some closer inspection and partial construction, I have to say very, VERY) crude. Her construction requires amazing amounts of polymer filling and reshaping by sanding her down and filing. There's some substantial damage to her face which may eventually deform her left eye, and if I do something about it, I might damage it irreparabally.
Then there's the other. I wanted another statue to focus on while the resin dries on the challenging one. I took out the one that looked the easiest to construct, only to realise I took out a (high quality) 1/12th recast. This means the statue is about 1/12th of her original size. Besides the fact that I've never actually built any statue smaller than 1/8th, sanding her down is a harder job, since I sand down everything a lot quicker and less subtly and, since I just started to decide on her colors, she's going to be a bitch to paint...
So now I have two challenges. XD
Yeah, I just needed to get that off my back. The colors are going to be equal to her manga-colors, except for the hair, of course. Artist's perogative. ^_~
In retrospect, it's typical of me to pick (probably) the only two statues cast from an actual image at the same time. Heh
